Greetings all,

I'm using idImager, and was wondering if the specifics in the video training as applied to iView are applicable in a generalized way to idImager or other catalog programs for that matter.  I've been through the book several times, but the videos look like they would really help nail down the workflow.  I'm just getting started organizing everything and don't really want to hash it up and re-do everything later.  If the videos can help, they would more than make up for the cost in time wasted doing things over (and over...).

Thanks,
John

I use Elements v3 for my cataloging, and it showed me what I needed to do, and a few work arounds. Currently there is only one process I have not been able to replicate--colour coding the surround of a picture to match the star rating.. I just cannot do that process.
The import of colours for "out-takes, un-rated etc" can be done, as can the star ratings.

John,
The disks are really for the iView user.  In many respects, the reason we made them was to show how to pull the levers in iView.

That said, clearly there are a number of things an idImager <corrected> user <corrected> could learn about structure and methodology.

As to whether it's worth it for you to get, that depends on how much you have mastered your workflow, and how much of a bite $100 is for you.

Thanks for the input guys,

Since I haven't come anywhere near mastering my workflow, and having reviewed all the posts, table of contents, etc. it looks like I could benefit greatly from the video training.  I just ordered them and will let you all know what the benefits are for a novice idImager user, hopefully in a couple of weeks.

Peter, I am always very open for criticism about IDI and that info is always used to improve the application very fast.
However, dropping such a statement on a public forum without further motivation is ... hmmm ... disappointing. Sure there are many things in IDI that could be improved, but that applies to every product in this segment... iView very much included.

Hi Hert,

I think you misunderstood Peter's comment. To my reading he wasn't saying idImager the application could learn about structure and methodology, but rather those who use it.

Peter's underlying DAM philosophies can be adapted to many different workflows including idImager, not just Bridge > DNG > iView.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for clearing that out. I must have mis-interpreted that due to my limited English and maybe Peter's "idimager user" typo :$

Peter, please accept my humble appologies for my reply above.

Thanks

Hert

Hert,
Sorry for that typo. Yes, Robert is correct, I was referring to an idImager user.
