** Spinning out about "Corrupt" DNG's **

G'day all . . .
I've been slowly and patiently coverting my workflow and backup over to the DAMbook system.
My last shoot was the first time I've used the new system from end to end - and I've hit something frightening - "corrupt DNG's".
The final cut for the shoot was 399 images. After all the editing workflow I converted all my Canon RAW files to DNG using the converter. I didn't see any mention of errors.
I dutifully backed up my shinny new DNG's to my eSATA JBOD, archiving to both an "A" and a "B" disk and then proceeded to burn a DVD backup of the DNG's and exported Bridge cache.
Yawn . . . I went to bed.
In the morning I wanted to check the integrity of the DVD and to my suprise I found one DNG that wouldn't load a preview or open in ACR. More shocking was that this "corruption" was present on my HD versions as well. Luckily I hadn't deleted my RAW yet and was able to recreate the DNG.
This is a bit shocking to me - and makes me wonder about the "archive to DNG" workflow. . . I'm not claiming I'm some pro-photo-hero but I have shot a fair few photos - sometimes as many as 3,000 in two days at festivals. I've never once had any corruption of my Canon RAW files. Yes, I've had cards fail - once partially and once totally - but never had to worry about my RAW files going bad once they are on my HD's.
Is such "corruption" to be expected? Should we all add a step on our DAM checklist after the DNG conversion that reads "Check each DNG file for corruption"??
Where else should young players be aware that DNG corruption can happen? Is there a way to "fix" it if you've already canned your RAW's?
Thanks for the book Peter . . . it's been a long but worthwhile ride.
Peace & thanks from Tasmania,
Thomas

Thomas,
Can you give a bit more information?
Which version of the DNG converter are you using?
What system software?
Are you converting over a network?
What are your exact steps?
Have you had any other corruption issues or weirdness with the JBOD?
