First, I would not suggest running any shoots wholesale through Lightroom until it delivers.  The DNGs are built with a temporary XMP block right now, and should all be rebuilt before permanent archive.

Eventually, it will make sense to DNG the JPEGs, i think, especially if you want to adjust them.

I hope we see some more options in future DNG specs that will enable us to specifiy the compression on the source data in order to make DNG files made from JPEGs smaller.

While I don't think there will be a particular risk in making DNG files from JPEGs once LR delivers, I'm not sure there will be a huge benefit right away.  We'll see when the software delivers.

Lightroom is beta, so this was a "fun" excercise. I imported a folder into lightroom, that had been ranked in Bridge. Exported (with no work done on the files) as dng's. On opening the new folder in Bridge the dng's were there---so was the original ranking details both stars and labels.
If only I had Rapid Fixer, I could play around with them some more. (I'm waiting for paypal see ps below)

On an off topic note--my email address is work based and includes the word "pharmacy" in it.  After several years of use paypal have stopped my account - as with an email address like that I could be buying or selling drugs on the internet!!!!
I have had to create a hotmail address.
It's still me, I could buy or sell the drugs just as easily!
