Where are the ratings applied to dng files stored?

 :-*this is obviously a very basic question.  Where are the metadata stars and lables applied to dng files stored in
1) Bridge
2) ivmp

Are they stored as IPTC or XMP in Bridge?  Are the stored to IPTC in IVMP?  If i am rating dng files in Bridge and then import them to an IVMP catalog do I need to run the Rank and File Script to make the ratings visible in IVMP?

If you apply the ratings in Bridge, they are stored as XMP inside the DNG. iView can see them when you import those files, or choose Action > Rebuild.

If you apply the ratings in iView, first they appear in iView, then if you select Action > Sync they are stored as XMP inside the DNG.

As to Labels, Bridge stores them as XMP data, while iView uses a completely different animal, the IPTC Urgency field.  THere is no overlap between these two fields.

In order to translate the data, you need to do some kind of data migration, and the fields are not easily exposed.  That's one reason we wrote Rank and File, to make this transition more automated.
