I just finished Peter's book and feel strongly enough about it to post a link to it here at the forum http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A4FGHJCUG6PQ5/ref=cm_cr_auth/002-3371695-9508062?%5Fencoding=UTF8.  If you think I may have been overly complimentary with my review, I'm sorry to say......you're wrong  Smiley.

Seasons Greetings,
Dan

Dan,
That a very nice review, thank you.  It is really gratifying to see that my book will help my fellow photographer add life and value to his images.

Well, I just finished the book a second time.  I took my time through it this time trying to solidify it all.  For all of you who have read the book only once, I highly recommend you read it at least two times.  It truly is a lot of information to absorb, and I can honestly say, having a complete picture in your mind is imperative if you wish to adapt DAM effectively and efficiently to your requirements.  Even after having read it twice scrupulously, I will continue to refer to it as I perform the migration.  My hat is truly off to Peter for paving the way for us all.

All of my startup DAM hardware has now arrived, and I believe I am ready to begin my first attempt at the migration using my LAN.  Fortunately, I'm one of the lucky one's because I started all digital and have not yet shot too many photos.  I currently have about 500 Canon CR2 files and about 1800 JPEG's, most of them from my Sony DSC-P100, which was my first digital camera, and still a really nice compact.

I plan to start a migration log thread on the forum for all to reference and provide feedback.  I will update the thread with my progress as time permits.  I hope to have the migration complete and fully operational by the end of January.  Hopefully this will benefit everyone.

Wish me luck....and good luck to everyone else as well.  I've studied hard to get to this point.... and now the fun begins Smiley.

Best Regards,
Dan

Dan,
I put that migration topic up just for you, what's taking you so long?

Well Peter, maybe if you were to take a look at that new migration topic sometime in the next light year, you might just discover that I've not only started the thread, but also have a few questions posted on it for you.  I figure you might be running short on questions to answer, so I posted a couple especially for you Smiley  Oh and while you're there, maybe you could help answer some of those other peoples questions too.....I'm really tired Grin.

LOL,
Dan

P.S.
I knew eventually my sense of humor would have break free....it was just a matter of time Smiley.

LOL
Yeah, I thought I had looked first, but maybe it was a cached page.  Then I DID take another look...
I may have to wait for the plane ride home from Macworld before I can get to that.
