1  Software Discussions / Lightroom / Re: Why do my LR DNG's differ from DNG's made with DNG converter? on: April 07, 2013, 11:21:57 PM
If you have the "fast load data" ticked in LR when converting to DNG they will not show in other applications.

Well if you follow the link to his Blog you will see it is all Lightroom now.  I guess follow where the gravy train goes. Wink
3  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Syncing Metadata on: July 16, 2011, 01:26:49 AM
The problem is doing it that way you have to click on every "pen" icon to copy them over.

If you wish to copy all metadata from one image to another then first select the image you want to copy from then select any you want to copy to and select the first script in the list.

4  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Media Pro fails to produce previews of DNGs larger than thumbnails . . . on: June 25, 2011, 12:39:01 AM
The simple fact is that it does not work and even installing the DNG Codec from Adobe does not help. It's sad to say that phaseone have made this progam less usefull than ME2 ever was by introducing multiple  bugs ( you will find more) and reducing the usability of it.  Sad

Lets hope there next update put's all the problems they have created right and we have at least the  we had in ME2!

Sorry forgot to add that LR works very well with Zenfolio if you add Jeffry Friedels add on exporter, I use it all the time.  http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/zenfolio

If you wish to check out my Zenfolio site which is the basic premium one it is here.  http://paulsilk.zenfolio.com/

Hi Neil, in your case I would suggest Zenfolio at only £25 for the basic it will enable you to password protect a gallery just for family and also enables you to allow print ordering by viewers using MPix at lab prices on just the galleries you select.  For what you want this word mean only allowing print orders on the password protected family to which you could e-mail the password to family members.

If you decide to go with Zenfolio use this code to get a £5 rebate of the first years membership.  PTU-TCC-KRP

Well as a long standing user of ME2 and Iveiw before I'm having a lot of problems with it on Windows 7 64 bit as are many others.

1- File sort does not work.

2- Selecting more than one folder results in a blank thumbnail view, so I only have the choice of viewing all thumbnails or just one folder.

3--No matter what you set in the syncronise dialogue it generates XMP side car files for all images including Jpegs.

4- Setting the rendering engine to Phase One and trying to view images full size just causes a freeze up .

Speed is not to much of a issue with me but just the above make it virtually unusable and I have had to go back to using EM2.

Hi,

Only from the last back up of your catalog. PITA and I've been there too.

FWIW all databases can will eventually corrupt whether the app is Lightroom, Portfolio, whatever.

+1

My catalogue databases are kept in the My documents folder which is backed at 5.00 pm every day by free backup software and therefore I never lose more than one days work, you mean to say you have not taken this simple precaution?  Shocked
9  Software Discussions / Lightroom / Re: Trouble filtering by keywords on: July 16, 2010, 11:48:40 PM
Neil , I think I remember having this problem in LR 2.7 but cannot check as I removed it, but it seems to have been fixed in LR3.

Does not selecting keywords in the text column and selecting "contains all" and entering both names in the quick search panel not do it for you, it works in LR3.
11  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: EM2 PNG metadata on: July 12, 2010, 02:43:39 AM
You are correct and no it does not update the XMP file and you have to keep re-doing the extract meta data to folder and this applies to any Raw format except DNG.

And no it is not very acceptable in a dam program.
12  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Phase One buys Expression Media - updated on: July 03, 2010, 08:08:42 AM
If you import your images from your Card using EM2 then a seperate capture set will be made for each download and/or you can custom make Catalog Sets.

What this means is if you now send a image to CO5 from one of those sets it will add it to a CO5 Album with the same name in the library, this means you can just open the image you want in CO5 without having to import a complete folder of images into CO5's library.
13  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Delete files but keep in catalog? on: June 14, 2010, 02:12:23 PM
This works for a PC not sure about make Mac.
You could delete them from the hardrive in the catalogue but then close the catalogue down and not save the changes then when you reopen the catalogue they will still be there and showing as not available but no longer on the harddrive.
14  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Phase One buys Expression Media - updated on: June 13, 2010, 11:18:03 PM
Todd, I do not think you will be disapointed, as someone who owns LR2.7 (and trialing LR3), CO5 ,IDimager Pro and EM2, I much prefere using EM2 and CO5 and LR is sitting on my computer pretty much redundant now.

EM2 and CO5 play together more nicely than I first thought, especially if using the capture sets in CO5. Smiley
15  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Future of Expression Media on: September 29, 2009, 03:35:46 AM
Let's not be too hard, John, a sentence before that unfortunate phrase Mr Weisberg writes 'we are actively working on the future of the product'

Dierk  I would have been happier to hear we are working on the next phase/ edition of EM rather than this corperate deflector language that could also mean working on our future plans to see if the EM product has a future in our plans!  Sad
