2  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / changing case for .JPG extension on: August 09, 2013, 07:13:22 PM
Media pro is exporting the files with upper case .JPG, I'm having some problems with an online app that needs to be lower case .jpg

Any ideas?

Thanx,

3  Software Discussions / Lightroom / Re: LR 4.1 DNG issues on: December 20, 2012, 06:44:01 PM
Hey, just wanted to let everyone know, turns out that there's a new feature in LR4 when converting to DNG.  If you check the EMBED FASTLOAD DATA when converting, the resulting DNG's embedding JPEG won't be seen by OSX.

That only took 8 months to figure out.  Adobe Help needs some updating...

4  Software Discussions / Lightroom / Contacting Adobe on: November 13, 2012, 11:07:28 AM
I've been working on a Lightroom issue with Canon files with the 800 tech support number since late August, without any real progress.

Does anyone have a contact name or number of someone I can speak with in the US.  A large part of my problem is that every time I call, I need to start talking about the issues from ground zero, despite a case log that the support people have access to.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanx,

Thanx for the reply.

I did try that, but it didn't help.

It seems that any file converted to DNG in LR3 shows full sized embedded previews, but the same files rendered in LR4 doesn't show full sized files in the same MP catalog.

I've duplicated everything on two computers, so it's something with how LR4 is converting, or the way MP is reading the DNG.

Seems that none of the files from any canon camera will show the embedded preview in Media Pro.  I'm on a MAC running Lion.

I took a DNG converted in LR4, imported into LR3, reconverted, saved the preview and updated the metadata, and MP recognizes the file and allows for outputting of JPEGs.

Any CR2 files converted in LR4 give a pixel dimension of 256x171.

Any help would be appreciated!

7  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Media Pro rotates images on: February 16, 2012, 08:16:10 AM
I have a case going now with Phase One.  They suggested that "The best solution for this would be to discontinue the use of the option to "Use Embedded Thumbnail (if available)" in both Preferences and Thumnail and Preview options."  I did that, but it didn't solve the problem.

It's not camera specific, shoot specific, and it doesn't rotate all vertical images.

I'm a volume shooter, and I edit fast, so to have to start correcting this when it happens is a big deterrent to continuing to use this program... iview seems to remain the best solution?

If it resolves, I'll let you know what Phase One says...

8  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Media Pro rotates images on: February 15, 2012, 07:57:11 PM
When I change from THUMBNAIL to MEDIA by double clicking a vertical image, the image is rotated to horizontal, and will then export that way.  When I double click on a horizontal image, it seems to be resized to fit the window.

I'm running the latest version of Media Pro, have converted to DNG before importing, and am on the latest version of Lion.

How do I stop this from happening?

Thanx,

9  DAM Stuff / Hardware Discussions / hard drive question on: January 24, 2012, 06:47:50 AM
Currently I work with macguru enclosures for my data.  A reliable power supply and good cooling.

I now have a laptop and I'm thinking of adding a GLYPH portable hard drive to keep my working files on.  The way I work I prefer to keep editing programs open so I prefer to always have access to the files.

Is relying on a portable hard drive, and leaving it on all the time, a good practice?  (I have a daily backup system so everything gets backed up daily.)

thanx,

10  Software Discussions / iView MediaPro / Re: lost serial number on: August 13, 2010, 12:18:41 PM
Hi Peter,

Yes, I am trying to install on a new machine.  In the past, Migration Manager took care of the registration, however, I was unable to use migration manager for the new computer (iMac.)

Thanx!

I still use iView Media Pro.  Can't seem to find my serial number.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I can find it?

Thanx so much.

Point taken.

I know you're burning onto blu-ray at the moment, was there a particular non gold DVD that you were using prior to your switch?

Thanx for your response.

Thanx for the articles.  Very helpful.

Seems that the second article talks about GOLD DVDs being archival.

I'm curious to know if people are bothering to use those.

thanks.

I've been looking, and can't seem to find information about the archival life of the DVDs.  Which brings up two questions.

When people are burning DVDs, are most people using archival quality DVDs?  And are there archival Blu_Ray DVDs that are being used?

As always, thanx for the 411.

15  DAM Stuff / Hardware Discussions / Re: ALERT - Seagate Firmware Problem - Data at Risk on: February 06, 2009, 10:18:14 AM
Of course I was on hold for a good 30 minutes before I was disconnected this morning.  If I find out any information regarding dates for firmware updates, I'll be sure to post it here.

In any event, I'm glad I have a solid workflow.  on download I always copy to a pocket drive and unplug before I do anything.

Back to burning DVDs...
