Marc-........ One question at this time regards the Quick Fields section. Have you changed the manner in which these are handled. The previous "defaults" (location, etc.) are no longer displayed. Left over is one I set up in 3.1, sequence (for ingest from an Epson P-3000). Also, the Quick Fields section of the Tools > Macro Labs is not in the current version, as it appears on Page 72 of the manual. Sorry if this has been discussed in a previous thread, but I could not find any reference.
Marc-No reply needed. Downloaded the latest manual.

Chris- FWIW, I have my setup (MacPro) for LR, since early Beta, with application on system drive, photos and catalogs on 2nd internal, and cache (Bridge, LR) on 3rd internal drive. Reasons are mainly three - 1. "spread" out the disk usage as much as possible to hopefully improve overall performance (all are 500gig @7200rpm), 2. "minimize" disk usage (wear), and 3. facilitate backup procedures to external HDs.
Whether by design or (dumb) luck I don't seem to be plagued by the rash of comments on the forum regarding sluggishness with LR2.

Marc- My initial reaction to 3.2.02 is very positive. Preset "name" label appearing in the Presets has been a hope of mine for a while, Thanks. The logic to Save and Save As in the Presets works for me too. One question at this time regards the Quick Fields section. Have you changed the manner in which these are handled. Martin- you owe it to yourself to give Lightroom a try, especially v2, now that it has been released. As you evaluate the present state of each, pay particular attention to what the development curve has been for each of the programs over the last two years. IMHO, LR has come further, faster. So, if the past is any indication of the future.......
And, wait and watch for the opinions of the folks who use iView/xMedia, IF and/or WHEN Peter indicates a preference for LR vs xMedia in DAM 2.......

John- post in the comments on the LR Blog by Tom Hogarty re D700--
****************
Nice, but no D700 support?
Can you shed some light on the process of adding support for new cameras to LR?
[The D700 is supported but we could not declare "official" support because we didn't have time for in-house testing with a production model before this release was finalized. I don't expect any difference between the current support and final support but we have fairly strict quality rules that prevent official declaration until certain tests are performed. -TH]

Jonathan-
Although I do not use Media Pro, I'll offer you this comment FWIW. After reading DAM and "testing" various alternative workflows, I've settled on ImageIngester and Lightroom. Bear in mind, that I'm a hobbyist (advanced?). I convert to DNG on ingest. Right now I'm glad for that, since I just bought an Olympus E520. LR 1.4.1. and Beta 2 do not support the RAW, but ACR and DNG Converter updates do. My point, ACR updates have generally been more frequent than LR updates and since I've settled on aDNG workflow, no problemo. Also, I'm taking a gamble that LR DAM features will evolve faster and better than Media Pro going forward. I do use Bridge as a viewer (since I have CS3) but almost exclusively to verify ingests (occasionally to invoke ACR and Photoshop). So, aside from folder naming, photo naming and backup procedures-
Ingest with IIP3 Verify with Bridge Ingest to LR for catalog (metadata, etc.), develop, export and print. "Done"

Well, I think those prompts will be very annoying. So, this is exactly why we have options. It will be a Preference checkbox, and you can turn it on or off. It's already in the new 3.1 User's Manual (just posted today), but not yet in the app.
--Marc
OK, so now in addition to being a primo developer, you're also a mind reader. I was too slow in editing my post to suggest a checkbox. Great minds think alike. --Dave

I thought about that prompt, but then noticed that none of the apps I use with presets do so, such as Photoshop, Lightroom, OS X Print Dialog.
Thoughts?
--Marc
Marc- I vote for the prompt. The yellow dots are nice, but I'm already looking past them on a screen that has so much going on. --Dave
