Hello Jim,
I was in a similar situation like you about 2 years ago. My recommendation is to:
1. buy "The DAM book" from Peter 2. Read it at least twice 3. If you are like me I was overwhelmed by all the info and I read it a 3rd time and bought the DVD and watched that twice 4. I followed the advice from Peter and did not work on the past but started with the new pictures. Once I was sure what I was doing I sorted out my "history files" 5. Regarding files names - the key for me is that irrespective of how many files you have you need a numbering system that is kept in order by the computer, the simplest way is YYYYMMDD_#### - I do not need any names of photographers in it because I do not have a company where you want to see already from the filename who took the pictures.

Hello Jim,
I can not help you regarding your GPS question but I have a question for you. I understand that it is easy to find "Aunt Suzie" if you have it in the filename but what are you doing if you have on the same picture:
"Oncle Charly" "Nephew Sam" and "friend Joe"
are you putting them all in the file name?

DAM Stuff / Hardware Discussions / Re: New Mac Pro tower

Cores, Quads, Chips! Apple has a refurbished Mac Pro for sale with two 2.4GHz chips and I am trying to determine how it compares with a new Mac Pro with a single, faster chip. Here are the two models I am considering:
Refurbished Apple Macintosh Mac Pro 2.4GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon Two 2.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon "Westmere" processor $2969
New Apple Macintosh Mac Pro Quad-Core One 3.33GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon “Westmere” $3514
Can anyone tell me definitively which of these machines would be best suited for Photoshop work? I spoke with one Apple sales rep who suggests the 8-Core is best. I have an email out to another Apple contact for his opinion.
Thanks, Mark Weidman

General / General Discussion / Re: How to use EM2 to transfer to Blu Ray

Hello Vaughn,
I only have my files on harddrives but I would burn the BD, keep the disc in the computer, open EM2 and point to the files on the BD. The moment you take the BD out of the computer EM2 will recognize it and indicate that when you open the catalog.
As said, I have not done that yet because I only use harddrives but that should work.
