286  Software Discussions / iView MediaPro / Re: Bucket system with Catalog Sets? on: January 29, 2006, 11:26:16 PM
Hi Mike,

I would think Alex's Javascript for iView would be ideal:

http://www.iview-multimedia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1567#5826

This script separates images into Sets of predefined buckets which could be CD, DVD, Blu-ray...

Currently it only works on MediaPro 2.6. There's no need to remind you, but iView are overdue in updating the scripting documentation for MediaPro 3. Maybe you can figure out a workaround?

Hi Rick,

I'm not familiar with Polyimage - what is it that you don't like?

Being careful not to slander PolyImage nor get out of my depth, apps I use that rely on it are much, much slower to render images. e.g. IMatch, Breeze Browser and PolyView itself. Switch color management off in these apps and the they appear to run at least twice as fast. Coincidence?

To balance my posts, PolyImage brings an immediate benefit to software vendors who license the code including ICC management and the option to read/write IPTC.

Hi Alan,

do you know if this javascript will work on folders and not just files?

Good news and bad news. Yes this javascript can work across folders. So you could to  search and save the selection to a CD or DVD set. The bad news is this script doesn't appear to work with MediaPro 3 Sad. From the discussion with other iView users it appears iView have changed the way v3 handles scripts and need to update their object model and documentation.

Hi,

There's a JavaScript for iView Media Pro that breaks images into Sets of a predefined size: 700MB for CD or 4.7GB for DVD, etc.

It's by Alex Havrylyuk who also wrote the freeware iImport for iView.

Archive Creator currently has an issue with some computers due to the PolyimagePro dll's it uses. Personally I'm not a great fan of apps that use Polyimage.
