1  Software Discussions / ImageIngester and ImageVerifier / Re: On Naming... on: June 11, 2007, 11:52:53 AM
Another naming question:

Also is there a way to have IIP incorporate a job number in the filename?

such as:   nurnberg_070610_12324_5767.CR2 where 12324 is the job number?

Thank you.

Would using both English and German be an issue? Just curious.

5  DAM Stuff / Keywords and Controlled Vocabulary / "multiple values" showing up in keywords on: June 28, 2006, 11:51:14 AM
Hey all,

This is something I have just notice happen. In Bridge, I give all the images a basic Metetadate template, then, select all and keyword with words that apply to all images, then go to a smaller group and add keywords that apply only to those. Now am noticeing that when I look at the file info, instead of shwoing the keywords I had first added, it simply says "Multiple values" as a keyword. This is even if I only have ONE image selected. In the keyword panel of bridge it shows all the previous keyword unchecked and a keyword "Multiple values", checked. It also shows "Multiple values" as a keyword I can place from the keyword "fly out" window.

Are all my original keywords still there and if so how do I show them, or what am I doing incorrectly?

My P-2000 does not rename the files!! I use it all the time. It will put each card into a folder with a name beginning with the date, but file names remain what the camera gives it. Hmmm...

Yes I had contacted them (MacGurus)also and said nothing was availible. Switching caddies would not be a big deal, but it would be nice just to swap them. I really do niot want to buy another computer for home just so I can access these drives on occaision.

Have you received your new enclosure yet? I am be curious to hear how you like the new box. It looks like it takes one drive, correct?

MacGurus are great. When I order my enclosure from them, the owner even helped me out by phone on a Saturday and Sunday!

My 4 bay eSATA hot swap box from MacGurus runs great. They are on all day every day and no problems so far. (after a few months).

Hello,

I purchased a 4 bay eSATA box from MacGurus after reading the book. Now I have a question. Is there anything availible to allow me to use those "trays" in a FireWire box, so that when I bring those drives home I can use them on another computer without an eSATA card? (or if my one machine that has the card should die?).

Images that are not part of a job? I was hoping you maight be able to tell me! I would say just use the sequnce number without a job number.

I assume that in iView only one person can access a catalog at once, is that correct? I will obviously have to buy extra licenses for each of my machines in order for iView to be open on more than one, but is there a way for more than one person to work on the same large catalog? We have four computers networked.

I assume it won't be an issue if I have a few catalogs such as jobs, portfolio, personal, that each of those can be used by different people at the same time, is that correct?

12  DAM Stuff / Naming Issues / Names to include job numbers on: April 16, 2006, 11:36:32 AM
If I want to incorporate a job number in my file names, does one of these make more sense than the others:

nurnberg_date_job#_seq    (nurnberg_060416_5987_3452)

date_nurnberg_job#_seq

date_job#_nurnberg_seq

My thought , based on what you showed, would be the first one. Although the third choice would show us the job number in small thumbnail views in bridge and iView. Also, my job numbers are currently 4 digits but may go to five digits in a few years. any reason to make them all five digits at this point? (add a 0 in front). Or is there something I am not seeing that would be better than any of these?

Thanks,  Paul
