1  Software Discussions / Bridge/ Camera Raw / Re: Getting Autoblacks in Camera Raw and Lightroom on: April 08, 2012, 07:14:46 PM
I got the autoblack issue solved in the latest ACR.
The script IS different in the latest ACR, so simply
stripping in the little line of code that worked
before in earlier versions was not working,
ie. putting AutoShadows in the lines did not work.
I just used the older entire settings for ALL the
options that was a download from Peter,
and used that as separate setting, and now it
works.

2  Software Discussions / Bridge/ Camera Raw / Not getting Filmstrip view in Bridge on: April 08, 2012, 07:11:55 PM
For some reason, I am unable to get anything when I click on Filmstrip view in
Bridge.  Can get all the other ones.  Maybe I have something configured
in the layout that prevents this.  No idea.  I like Filmstrip view the best,
and would like to get it back.

3  Software Discussions / Bridge/ Camera Raw / Re: Getting Autoblacks in Camera Raw 6.6? on: March 10, 2012, 08:20:58 PM
This may be hopelessly old fashioned, but I still us PS,Bridge, and
The old version of iView Expressions.   I used to be able to get AutoBlacks
In ACR by using the script given previously.  Now in ACR 6.6
I put in the AutoShadows replacement script code in ACR settings,
And it no longer works.  The code looks different.  So in short,
What is the simplest way to get AutoBlacks in ACR 6.6?

4  Software Discussions / Bridge/ Camera Raw / Visual progress of Develop Settings on: September 20, 2011, 07:51:26 PM
With CS5/Bridge, I made a custom Develop Settings (shows under Edit-Develop Settings), so that I could apply a universal tweak to all the RAW files.
For some reason, when I select all the files I want, and apply that setting, it only does it to some of the files, seemingly randomly, and there is no visual
indicator of the prorgress of the batch application.  Why are the settings not being applied to every one of the selected files? Why is there is no visual
progress indicator for the batch process?  Hope I am being somewhat clear.

Ok, this is probably all over the place, but I am doing a fresh install, and can't seem to
find the script for Bridge that is the 'Set Copyright to True'.
Thank you,

7  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / Re: Files not Rotated Correctly in Expressions on: February 24, 2011, 10:47:44 AM
Continued experiments yield continually chaos with EM and completely whacked
output of orientation of jpgs from DNG originals.

All DNG files in correct orientaiton.
Output Jpg files all over the map.
Yes, rebuilt originals.
Yes, rebuilt output files.
Further, when I rotate the whacked jpg output, it continues to show an incorrect orientation in EM.
Repaired permissions.
totally whacked, totally a time drag.  Wasted hours, with no resolution, other than wishing
for an alternative to EM.

Ok. EM and whacky rotations on jpg output. About had it.
All the DNG files are in correct orientation in the originals portfolio.
I go to make JPG files (Action-Convert Image file), and
some of the outputted JPGs are NOT in correct vertical/horizontal orientation.

I saved, and rebuilt the originals.  Same result.
I selected the images and went to View - Default Orientation, and it showed
some of the originals in the incorrect orientaiton.

I went to show the original media file, and the originals are in the correct orientation.
Rebult again.  Output again. Same problem.  Incorecct orientaiton.

Using 5D and 7d, does the same to both.  Seems random.

Hmmm, I had tried rebuilding them earlier, and then after saving the catalog, and re-starting,
now when I rebuild them, Expressions corrects the issues, and rotates them correctly.
So.....thanks Roelof for that.

Now, if I could figure out why this is happening, and see if it happens in the future....

Don't know if this is all ready listed.
Using OS 10.6.4, Mac Pro, 11 Gigs RAM.

When I drop DNG, or JPGs into my existing Expressions catalog, the thumbnail jpgs are
not shown as rotated correctly in the Expressions catalog, but when double clicked, they
open in the right orientation.  If I rotate them in the catalog, and then double click,
the open incorrectly.  Been going on for awhile.
Canon 5D MK II, Canon 7D, ACR, CS5.

Thanks.

11  DAM Stuff / Hardware Discussions / Re: e-sata JOBD box drives dismounting - Happy Ending on: May 02, 2010, 04:18:35 PM
Nice to actually have a happy ending to a hardware issue.  Awhile ago, I tried to install 1,000$ of new Seagate drives
into my Burly JOBD box.  They would all autodismount after 15 minutes - disappear from the desktop.

After MUCH hair pulling, and cursing, and calls to Mac Guru's and Sonnet, etc, etc, etc.  It turns out that this
problem was similar to many others who had updated the driver for the Sonnet E4P esata internal card.

After irritating the heck out of the Sonnet people, they finally sent me the prior version of the driver, and things
are now fine.

All the above took 1.5 months.  I wonder if there is a checklist of things to try.  I would not necessarily thought
of using the prior version of a driver.

Happy Ending.

Hope I'm not too 'post happy' here.
I don't know anything about 'testing' drives for bad sectors, etc.
But doing so would seem to make sense.
I have the latest version of Drive Genius, which will do that.
I'll try that, but the drive will most likely dismount before it's finished.
Worth a shot.

Hi Peter,
I don't think it's a power issue.  The Sonnet only has an 80W power supply, but the Burly
has a 300W power supply, which is more than enough.  Also, even with just 3 off the 5 Burly
bays filled with older 400 and 500 Gig drives, the drives still drop.

Rick at MacGurus says it must be the card.
But, single drive in single Burly case = ok, even a 'bad' drive is ok in the single burly.

What's left?
Power supply? No.  300W and 3 of 5 bays filled = drop
Card? Unsure.  Single burly drive works fine, but not a multi bay config.
Drives? Unsure.  A 'bad' 1.5 drive works fine in the single Burly case
Sonnet Card Driver? Maybe.  Updated the driver, but it does not show under 'extensions' in the system profiler - suspicious?
Sonnet Card? Maybe. But why does the Single Burly still work fine?
MacOS? installed a fresh os on a Zeroed drive = Still drops?
DiskWarrior 4.2? Ran it = drops
Repair Permissions? Many times = drops
Restart? Works for 15 min. then drops
MacPro itself? What would I test?

Steps?
Call SeaGate
Take MacPro to Apple Store for a tune up and check? But, they won't check the Sonnet card.
Buy New Mac Pro? Not in this economy
Mac Medics?
Chesapeake Systems?

14  DAM Stuff / Hardware Discussions / Re: ALERT - Seagate Firmware Problem - Data at Risk - Disregard on: February 20, 2010, 04:09:19 PM
Ok, Disregard the above post, where I said pulling the 1.5 TB drives out left the remaining
drives ok.  Even without the 1.5 TB drives in, the remaining older drives STILL dismounted.
Now I am just not sure what is going on.  The Sonnet E4P card has the latest driver.
I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard.....No idea how to figure this out if it's not the 1.5TB bad Sea drives.

Or, have the Sea drives corrupted something?  It's not the Burly box or the Sonnet box, as they
both drop.  Not the OS, as I installed a new OS on a separate test drive.  Problem with the card?

Disk Warrior time?

15  DAM Stuff / Hardware Discussions / Re: ALERT - Seagate Firmware Problem - Veriication of problem on: February 20, 2010, 04:00:38 PM
To confirm the problem is the bad Seagate drives, when I pull all the 1.5 TB drives with the 'OK' (NOT!) CC1H firmware
out of the Burly box.....all the other drives which are not the bad batch work....FINE.  Problem is verified as isolated
to the 1.5 TB SeaCrap drives.
