1  General / dpBestflow.org Discussions / Preserve Raw vs Embed Raw in DNG on: March 24, 2010, 08:34:10 AM
Peter,
I got a lot of good info the other night in Miami so thanks for coming down.

I have two questions, one you say on dpbestflow.org that you recommend preserving the raw or embedding it, but I can only find the option to embed it not to preserve it. Where do I find that option in the stand alone converter or is it only in Camera Raw or Lightroom?

Secondly, I thought I heard you say the other night that you could convert Tiff and JPEG files to DNG or did I misunderstand what you were saying? I have tried it but it doesn't seem to work so I must be wrong.

Thanks,
Dennie

I have resolved the issue by reinstalling Camer Raw which did not install properly the last time I updated.

3  General / General Discussion / rapid snapper icon in Raw on: October 30, 2009, 03:51:05 AM
Peter,
I have tried to email support (support@DAMuseful.com) but it always comes back undeliverable. I need an answer asap.

I have installed the RapidSnapper in my CS4 Bridge but when I open an image in Camera Raw, the icon for snapshots in the upper right hand corner is not there. I have re-installed, restarted, reenabled and everything to no avail. How can I get the icon to show? Without the icon, I can not go back and forth between the different snapshots in Camera Raw.
Can you help me???

Peter,
I sent you an email as well but to repeat myself, I need the installation directions for the rapidsnapper. I am trying to move it to my new computer and can't seem to locate the original directions. I got it to create snapshots in bridge but there is no icon for snapshots in Camera raw.
thanks for your help.

Peter,
I don't have Rapidfixer just Rapidsnapper. But I think I have figured it out. Remember I am working with scanned TIF files NOT raw files. Anyway the "saved" snapshot does appear when you open the second or "new" version of the file and then save a second snapshot of the same file in bridge and then open it for the third time you can now see both snapshot versions of the file.
It seems to be working now. Thanks for your help.

Peter,
I know you are busy so I will try not to make this any longer than needed but I tried using the Edit>develop sttings as you suggested but it only seems to work with Raw files not TIF files.  At any  rate I would think that if I open a TIF in camera raw save it, then save a snapshot of that,  then reopen it in camera raw there should be the snapshot that I just saved?Huh Right?

As I said in my post I open each file in Camera Raw with the defaults settings then save that file to my folder. Then I create a snapshot with rapidsnapper but when I reopen the file again in camera raw there are no snapshots available even though they are shown in the keyword list in the file's metadata.

10  General / General Discussion / rapidsnapper on: September 13, 2009, 12:28:24 PM
I am having trouble using the rapidsnapper software and would like to know what I am doing wrong. I am scanning film into TIFs then cleaning them and saving them to a folder in an external hard drive. I then open them from this folder using bridge into Camera Raw. I make no adjustments at this point  because I want this to be my original so I then save a snapshot "original' in bridge with the image. I close the image and reopen it in Camera Raw and the "original" snapshot is not there even though it shows in the key words of the image file in bridge. What is the problem here? What am I missing?
Thanks in advance.

The last message on this subject is dated Feb 2006, has there been any progress getting the labels from Bridge to transfer to iview?

I have been uploading DNG's and the color labels are not coming up. Any help?

I am just starting with Iview but it seems I can't find an answer to my first question. Where do I save the catalog of pictures? I have read all of the manuals and all of the forums but nowhere does anyone address this point. I added a catalog set in the organize field but it does not link to anything nor can I add anything as a subset to that catalog on that page with out opening a second window. The second window does not show anything related to the sets I saved in the first window. I am totally confused. Even in Chapter 7 of the Dam book there is no info on the actual mechanics of this process.

15  Software Discussions / RAW File Converters / DNG converter has no jpg preference setting on: April 11, 2006, 08:37:13 AM
Thanks for your help in advance. I just downloaded the DNG converter and processed a few folders of raw files but then I noticed it has no place in the preferences to allow you to choose the size of the jpg nor does it show that a jpg is being created. Is this because Adobe has changed this to an automatic function or what?
I am just starting to work with the Iview program but is this where you can acess the jpg preview and how do you do it?
Thanks again.
