46  Software Discussions / ImageIngester and ImageVerifier / Custom Location of Preference Files on: September 20, 2008, 11:40:47 AM
Marc,

I just finally finished setting up II3 now that I have some free time and noncrucial images to work through.  One feature I thought of that I wanted to throw out as an idea is the ability to locate the preferences, presets, logs, etc in a custom location.  Basically, what I am thinking is I use both a desktop and a laptop to ingest and want the same settings on both.  I happen to be on a Mac and have a .Mac account that syncs data between my desktop and laptop automatically.  I was just thinking it would be great if I could place the files there and simply point Image Ingester to use those instead of the ones in the users folders.  That would keep both computers synced and no additional work copying files back and forth.

No idea if others would use this or how hard it would be to implement but just thought I would throw it out there.  In other news, II3 seems to be working great on my first ingest and I absolutely love the new layout and preference/preset system.  Keep up the great work.

Best,
Drew

I found the space error that Michael mentions in earlier versions in my Quick Field set up for keywords.  Can be a little tedious to forget the leading space but otherwise great.

Hope to try v3 this week.

Thanks for the great work Marc.

48  Software Discussions / Bridge/ Camera Raw / Re: Anyone made a D300 specific Camera RAW preset? on: June 23, 2008, 08:51:58 PM
I plan to do the same very shortly for both my D2Xs and my D3 in order to produce consistent images no matter the camera used.  I haven't sat down and worked out exactly how to do this so if anyone has any suggestions here I would be interested as well.

Hmmm...

That I do not know.  Sorry I'm not much help.  I have a major project upcoming where I am headed to Costa Rica starting in early July and will be placing one final equipment order next week.  I am considering picking up one before the project.  I'll let you know midweek what I decide.

Thanks,
Drew

Marc,

I don't have one but would consider purchasing one if IIP would support it.

I have talked to one of Delkin's reps at a Tradeshow in March about them so I have a fairly good idea of how they work so fire away with the questions and maybe we can figure it out.

Marc,

As always thanks for the great support for IIP.  Not only is the software great but your personal service is unbeatable.

Yup, selected the images in Thumbnail view and tried the keyboard shortcut as well as simply selecting "Rebuild Item" from the menus.

Thats what I was afraid of.  I am not sure how the ImageRouter works.  I thought it wasn't exactly parallel but just did one card then the next and then the next and on.  The advantage being that you don't have to sit and wait.  Any chance of adding a feature like this in the future?  Essentially be able to queue up multiple card readers in IIP and hit start?  That way you don't have to sit there the whole time and switch out cards.  Just a thought.

Delkin's new Image Router with it's 4 CF card slots seems like an ideal situation for those trying to work through a bunch of cards after a long days shoot.  I am wondering if IIP will work smoothly with it or what.  Basically, can you hit INGEST once and have it download all 4 cards?

Here's a link to the hardware, http://www.delkin.com/products/connect/readers/imagerouter.html

Thanks!

So my understanding is that if you change the thumbnail settings and then hit rebuild item, you should get a new thumbnail with the new settings.  Unfortunately, this isn't happening and that may be because I am missing something or I am having a problem.

I used to have "Use Built-in Thumbnails" checked but have just unchecked it.  I also use to import at 640 High and want to reduce that to 640 medium.  The other day I imported some at 320 and now can't get them to become 640.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

I just need one that will work on a Mac, I assume the vbScript one won't.

John, I may in touch soon.

I usually send the filename to the title field in IIP but screwed it up on my laptop for a bunch of files from a recent trip.  I am now trying to go back and get the filename into each file.

I tried Beardy's Bridge script and while it appears to work in Bridge, when I view the images in iView, it isn't there.  I assume someone has one written in AppleScript for Iview but I can't seem to find one looking through this forum.

Oh yea, I am working with DNG files converted from D2Xs Nefs on a Mac Pro

Any help?

Thanks!

I just recieved my D3 this afternoon and haven't shot anything worth downloading as of yet.  Hopefully that will change tomorrow morning.  In any case, I am planning on continuing with a DNG workflow that I am continuing with my legacy D2X and D100 files.  Takes care of that specific support issue...
