Hi all,
I'm evaluating the DNG advantages and find an interesting bug in the free tool from Adobe, DNG Converter. I just wonder if any of you experimented the same.
My concern is about the metadata enclosed in the file; it seems that DNG Converter corrupts some of them (e.g. the circle of confusion, the shutter speed and others). My test was simple; I converted one of my RAW file (.CR2 from a Canon 40D) to DNG, then used ExifTool to read out the full metadata from both files. The comparison of the result was not the same!
The DNG file changed the scale factor to 35mm Eq. (from 1.6 for the original to 3.3), the CoC (from 0.019 in the original to 0.009), the field of view, the Hyper focal distance, and so on.
I wonder to use the DNG format as archive file format if it not store correctly such information.
Is there a better (I mean correct) tool to convert my RAW to DNG?
