Thanks for your help Bill - I expect I'll be back with more queries soon!

Thank you Roelof - can Lightroom be set to do this automatically?

Hi - absolute beginner with Lightroom - I'm using v5.3, and would like to know whether the embedded full-size dng previews accurately reflect any changes made (as iView used to do).

Thanks,
Alex

Solved the first question (idiotically simple, just needed to be much more precise when clicking) but still can't make the folders change colour when set to auto update - any thoughts?

Similar problem (also on a Mac), but this time it's the divider below the catalog sets window that won't move, whatever I do. Tried your solution but unfortunately it doesn't help

6  Software Discussions / Media Pro & Expression Media / EM 2 queries on: December 09, 2013, 04:13:12 AM
Hi - just installed EM2 on a new Mac after years of happily using IVMP. 2 questions - I seem to be unable to move the 'hierarchical keywords' divider downwards - it's stuck at the top so that I can barely see the 'catalog fields'. Next, I can't change the colour of folders and sub-folders set to auto-update, as could be done in IVMP, so there seems to be no way of confirming whether they are updating. Has anyone else come across these problems and found a solution?

Thanks,
Alex Ramsay

Thanks Roelof - are the problems to do with Microsoft Expression Media, or are they with the new Phase One version - or are they the same thing?
8  Software Discussions / iView MediaPro / general Mac/PS/iView upgrading - advice needed on: December 01, 2011, 03:27:14 AM
Hi all,

I currently use (have done for several years)  iView Media Pro 3 on a Mac, running on OS 10.4 (Tiger), together with Photoshop CS3. This combination has proved highly efficient and completely stable. However I do now need to upgrade Photoshop to CS5 because of improvements in Camera Raw. This in turn means that my Mac OS will have to be upgraded to Snow Leopard, which presumably means that I will have to migrate all my files from iView Media Pro 3 to Phase One Media Pro 1. Does anyone have any advice as to the best and safest way of doing this? Or about specific problems that may arise?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi - an occasional blog at http://alexanderramsay.wordpress.com/ from my somewhat erratic working life as a photographer of interiors and gardens (mostly). Some pictures, some comments on the more interesting jobs I do and places I visit. Feel free to comment!

10  DAM Stuff / DNG / updating settings and/or previews in ACR on: October 21, 2008, 03:40:45 AM
After going back into Bridge and making some adjustments to the DNGs in Camera Raw, ACR takes a minute or so to 'update settings'. While it does this, is it also updating the embedded preview - or do I need to do this separately via the dropdown menu in ACR?

Thanks,
Alex

OK, thanks. So if I use the Basic menu in ACR and go to 'update dng previews', selecting 'full size', does it just update the selected image or will it update everything in that folder? And then presumably I go over to Iview and 'rebuild item', or will it do an automatic update (folders set to update every five minutes)?

Bridge v. 2.1.1.9 as part of CS3 10.0.1

That's interesting - tried your suggestion re a new catalogue, and the changes still don't show  up - although I refreshed the Bridge thumbnails, and they show the correct versions. What now?

Having converted my nef files to dng, I import into iview in the usual way. If I subsequently go back to Bridge and make adjustments to the dng's (cropping etc) these changes do not show up in the iview catalogue, even after either rebuilding the item or deleting and re-importing it. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks, Alex

Thanks Ian, that's exactly what I wanted
