More Info:
Afternoon Presentation – DAM for the Digital Photographer
Some people think of Digital Asset Management (DAM) as an exercise in keywording or image archiving.  In truth, it’s much larger than that. DAM is about workflow, and how all the part of the digital photography ecosystem fit together. Understanding the principles of digital asset management save you time, increase the value of your images, and add security to your image collection.
This fast-paced lecture presents an overview of the most important DAM concepts, and how you can make use of them in your daily workflow. Learn how to analyze the components of your workflow, and make the best use of your own time.
This lecture will also introduce you to the important concepts behind the new Library of Congress-funded dpBestflow.org project. See how to make use of this extensive and free resource to improve all aspects of your digital photography workflow.

Day-long DAM Workshop
The day-long workshop will build on the previous afternoon presentation, delving deeper into each subject, and offering the opportunity to ask specific questions about your own asset management challenges and bottlenecks.  In particular we’ll look at the following topics:
• Use of Catalog software
• Hardware configurations
• File Management components
• Creating secure backups
• Non-destructive imaging
• Handling derivative files
• Data Validation
and more

Hello ______ (insert name).

I can try to help you figure this out.

- To confirm, you are trying to order The DAM Book Workflow CD", correct?

- Once you select "Add to cart", do you see a message that says "Added to cart" or just "view cart"?  In other words, tell what happened after you hit "Add to cart".

I'm  sorry for the inconvenience. If we can't figure it out, plan b is emailing an invoice directly to you, that has a PayPal button inside it. We can see if that works better.

Thanks,

Alyson

13  General / DAM Workshops / Workshop Dates in Kensington, MD - July 20 through July 23 on: July 03, 2009, 05:04:13 AM
We have four programs to offer, all held at Peter's studio located in Kensington, Maryland.  Sessions run from 9am to 5pm. Each day is a stand alone workshop.

    * Lightroom Workflow
    * Lightroom Workflow for Wedding Portrait & Event Photographers
    * Expression Media Workflow
    * Camera Scans - Take your Film to Digital

Lightroom for Wedding, Event and Portrait Photographers * Monday, July 20
Lightroom for Wedding, Portrait and Event Photographers is a workflow-centric workshop that presents specific recommendations on how to shepherd a large shoot through Lightroom and onto a web-based proofing service such as Pictage. While the basics of Lightroom are shown, the program only goes into the tools as they relate to a wedding/event photographer workflow.

Lightroom Workflow * Tuesday, July 21
The Lightroom Workflow workshop is geared to a general purpose Lightroom user, such as a corporate, stock or personal photographer. While the class also presents a workflow blueprint, it focuses on a deeper understanding of the Lightroom tools, and how they can be used in different ways.

Expression Media Workflow * Wednesday, July 22
This workshop is geared to photographers and collection managers who use Expression Media to work with photos. It's helpful to have basic familiarity with the software, but we will cover all the basics, as well as intermediate and advanced features.

Camera Scans * Thursday, July 23
One of the most promising developments in the scanning of film images is the use of a digital camera to digitize massive numbers of images very quickly. Using inexpensive equipment along with a digital camera, we've been able to make more than 1000 high-res scans of black and white film in a single day. This technique also works extremely well for color transparency film - providing a reproduction-quality scan for pennies apiece.

Each workshop is a stand alone event and each costs $200. If you wondering which workshop is right for you, read through the copy on our website, http://www.theDAMbook.com/pages/in-person.html. Please contact me if you still have questions.

Thanks,  Alyson
